Author: Neil Gaiman

Type: Fiction, novel

Published: 2002

I read it: October 2010

This book is in many ways comforting because of its familiar setup: a young girl enters a mysterious door that brings her to a mysterious, alternate world. Coraline’s adventure is perfect Halloween fodder, playful and creepy, contemplative and quirky. It’s a great read on a fall afternoon, and would be even better to pass on to a young boy or girl looking for some good fiction. The image of button eyes is not one to underestimate.
