The first Ferlinghetti I have read, and I’m glad Andy left it at my place or else I might not have. The first third of the book is the titular section, each poem about a page long, printed in a recurring jumping style. Some of these are really great observations on classic works, such as Goya’s paintings and Dante’s writings. Other highlights of the book are some of the “Oral Messages” intended to be read to jazz accompaniment; check out “I Am Waiting” and “Dog” if you get a chance to flip through this slim volume.
