The Road

Author: Cormac McCarthy

Type: Fiction, novel

Published: 2006

I read it: January 2008

Cormac McCarthy deserves every bit of praise he receives. This is the book that will be taught in high schools, if it isn’t already.  It’s The Grapes of Wrath of our time, and it shows that literature is very much alive and relevant. Read it now so you can read it again in five years, then five after that, and on until your kids read it and you’re helping them with their essay entitled, “What It Means to Carry the Fire.”
